My name is Mrs. Ray and I am so excited to be your child's 1st grade math and writing teacher this year. First grade is such an important time in your child's education. They are transitioning from learning letters, to putting words together, to actually reading books. It is all really exciting for the kids (and for me)! They are also learning responsibility and more independence. You will see them start to try things on their own a lot more. If they make mistakes....great! Let them learn from those mistakes, and remind them to have a growth mindset. We will be exploring new ideas, learning about the world around us, and growing as learners. I can't wait to take this journey with your child!
My Education
This is my 11th year teaching and I am really excited to be teaching 1st grade! I attended Clark-Pleasant Schools all of my life and graduated from Whiteland Community High School in 2003. I then went on to Graduate from IUPUI in 2008 with a degree in Elementary Education. Go Jaguars! I have been at Break-O-Day my whole teaching career. I spent 5 years teaching 3rd grade, and 1 year as a kindergarten teacher before finding my joy in first grade! Break-O-Day is the best elementary school in Clark-Pleasant, and we are going to have an awesome school year!

My Family
Charlotte is my beautiful, creative 14 year-old daughter who is in 10th Grade this year. She is sophomore class president and a member of the WCHS show choir. She loves singing, dancing, reading and musicals. She also loves to draw, make things out of clay and play her ukulele, guitar and piano. She wants to be an artist and a writer when she gets older, and her dream is to go to Paris someday!
Toby is my rambunctious 12 year-old son. He is in 7th Grade at Clark Pleasant Middle School. He loves all animals, watching the Pacers play and riding his bike. He loves to play soccer, basketball and tennis. When he grows up he wants to go culinary school and be a famous chef like Robert Irvine.
I love teaching and am so excited to have your children in my life! When I am not teaching I enjoy taking pictures, playing tennis, reading, hiking, running and visiting Disney World every year with my family. I can't wait for a great year in first grade!
